Why Fallopian tubes will be blocked?
If the Fallopian tubes are blocked, then doctors need to find the reason why the blockage of Fallopian tubes happened. In Indian women the most common condition that can cause blockage of Fallopian tubes is genetic tuberculosis.
Some of the other reasons why Fallopian tubes will be blocked are:
- Current or history of an STD infection, like chlamydia or gonorrhea
- Previous ectopic pregnancy
- History of uterine infection caused by an abortion or miscarriage
- History of a ruptured appendix
- Previous abdominal surgery
- Endometriosis
Blocked or damaged Fallopian tube will prevent sperm from reaching the eggs or it may prevent egg from moving from ovary to uterus to be implanted. Hence a woman with blocked Fallopian tubes cannot get pregnant. The confirmation of blocked Fallopian tubes can be done through blood tests, clinical imaging etc.
What is the solution?
For people who have blocked Fallopian tubes because of genetic tuberculosis, they can take anti tuberculosis medication which helps in natural resolution of the blockage.
If anti tuberculosis medicines does not work and for all the other reasons of blocked Fallopian tubes best treatment option available for pregnancy is IVF treatment.
In IVF procedure doctors will make the embryo transfer directly into uterus without the relevance of Fallopian tubes. So if a woman have blocked Fallopian tubes then IVF is the best treatment for her to become pregnant.
