Recombinant FSH — This is an ultra-pure FSH product available in every part of India, it is a product of genetic engineering. For treatment, it is similar in all respect to the pure FSH. Initially, in ART treatment in Bangalore, most of the partners have a problem in taking the first shot, they can get relief by placing the ice bag on the spot if injection before or after the injection to reduce the discomfort related to it. Patients can visit the KIC clinic between 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekends for consultation with ART treatment specialist.
Patient Monitoring— The clinic tries to give every facility to their Patients and for this, they need to visit the KIC for Sonograms and blood test to determine the maturity of their eggs beginning of the cycle days 3,5,7, or 9. In case if eggs are not mature, further monitoring is required either daily or occasionally, depends on the ovarian stimulation phase of the cycle.
Blood Tests— During the monitoring process patients usually give 2-3 blood samples for estrogen and progesterone level in the blood. Estrogen allows measuring the relative egg’s maturity. The determination of maturity of eggs is between 100 to 200 units of estrogen. Moreover, with the progesterone level, doctors determine the ripeness of eggs.
Sonograms— ART treatment in Bangalore determines the maturity of follicles through pelvic USG. It is a painless process, in which a radiologist inserts a small probe into the vagina to have a full image of ovaries and uterus on the screen, to count the follicles growing in ovaries, and to calculate the maturity of the endometrial lining of the uterus. A standard follicle measures in between 16 to 22 millimeters. Moreover, with a color Doppler study technology at KIC monitoring becomes easier.
Egg Maturity (Final Step)– When it is clear by blood test and sonograms that eggs are mature 18mm+, the final injection HCG is administrated to the patient between 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM on a specific date as per patient. Moreover, 36 hours recovery is scheduled after the HCG injection. For example—if a Monday monitoring of a patient shows a correlation of follicles at appropriate size and estrogen level maturity, she will be instructed to give HCG injection at 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM Monday evening. Later the egg collection will be performed on a Wednesday morning. Doctors at KIC note the timing of the injection because its retrieval is critical as HCG may cause egg follicles to release prematurely. This can make the IVF retrieval impossible. When procedure begins—the patient is not allowed to take solid food after midnight before the procedure. Patients are not allowed to have sexual intercourse 2 days before the procedure to make sure the highest count of male sperm.
