What is morula and its role in embryo compaction?
The stage of development prior to the formation of a blastocyst is known as the morula. On day 3, the cells are separate and spherical, but on day 4, they begin to clump together (compaction), obscuring the cell boundaries. As per the embryologists of Kiran Infertility Centre – Bengaluru, the morula stage is the next step in the development of the embryo. The name morula comes from the Latin word “morum,” which means “mulberry.”
